Handpicked Half Term Activities

On the best authority (thank you Cassidy, 10, and Tallulah, 7) The Lego Movie is funnier than Mr Peabody & Sherman but both are worth a trip to the cinema.

Top tip: if you don’t know already, you automatically get 10% off at Cineworld if you order your tickets online.

We love the sound of The National Gallery’s tours and talks for all ages which are happening over half term. For littler people (under 5’s) a story is told everyday in front and about a different painting on a magic carpet. It’s free, you don’t need to book but little ’uns must be accompanied by an adult.

Top tip: drawing materials are available from all the information desks throughout The National Gallery.

Kew Gardens is holding it’s wonderful Orchids exhibition in The Princess of Wales Conservatory. We fancy this as a nice warm escape from the rain; these beautiful and colourful flowers enjoy steamy living conditions. For special half term activities, the experienced Kew team will take young aspiring botanists around the conservatory, they’ll get to try on kit and find out cool stuff about tropical plants.

Top tip: kids under 16 have free entry. Try entering ORCHIDSKIDS for cheaper tickets elsewhere.

The Southbank Centre’s Imagine Children’s Festival is most definitely worth a mention. It yet again plays host to a plethora of comedy, music and literary events for kids throughout half term.

Top tip: apparently there’s a chance for 100 children to have a massive sleepover in the Royal Festival Hall. Cool.
